I’m trying to keep my sense of humor about me. The people are very nice and grateful for whatever you do for them. We supply most of the water. But there’s so many family members and they’re taking it too. More

Fighting for patients against insurance abuse
CNA/NNOC Treasurer Martha Kuhl, RN addresses reporters at a press conference March 2 hosted by CNA/NNOC and Consumer Watchdog announcing a consumer suit against Anthem Blue Cross for violating state law in predatory pricing practices. "There is nothing worse as a nurse than seeing a parent facing a child with a deadly disease being denied care, and having to scramble to get care for their child," Kuhl said. "Today's lawsuit is just the beginning of what is going to have to be much more profound change in healthcare in California," said Consumer Watchdog founder Harvey Rosenfield, calling California's consumer protection laws "some of the worst in the nation."

H1N1 Updates For RNs
As the H1N1 (swine influenza) pandemic escalates in our facilities and our communities, the CNA/NNOC Board of Directors has adopted a position statement on the role of the RN in combating H1N1 and protecting our patients and ourselves, and a policy statement on whether the H1N1 vaccine should be mandatory for RNs. We also remain very concerned about the ongoing gaps and failures of many hospitals to provide adequate safety precautions for patients, families, nurses, and other healthcare workers.
